SUMMER SERIES: The Liberty and Mystics will face off five times in the regular season this summer ... Following tonight's game, Washington will play host to two more ... New York went 2-2 in the season series in 2009, the third time in the all-time history the series has resulted in a tie.

LAST TIME AROUND: The Liberty topped the Mystics at The Garden on the final day of the regular season, 85-65 ... It was New York's largest margin of victory of the season ... Both teams squared off in the pre-season on May 5, with Washington walking away as the victor.

BACK IN THE NY GROOVE: The Liberty opened its 14th WNBA season on May 16 at The Garden with a win over Sky to start the summer off at 1-0 for the first time since 2007 ... Coincidentally, that last Opening Day game win came against the Chicago ... New York went on to a 5-0 start in 2007, the second best beginning to a season in club history since the inaugural summer in 1997.

C'MON GET CAPPIE: Cappie Pondexter arrived in Liberty Training Camp on the cusp of winning the Russian League title and appeared in a Liberty uniform for the first time on May 11 for New York's final pre-season game ... Pondexter finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists, three steals and one block in 44 minutes ... The All-Star guard's pre-season debut with Phoenix came four years to the day when the Mercury faced the Shock on May 11, 2006 ... She produced a 15-point, two-rebound performance in 23 minutes in that game.

NEWBIES TAKE CENTER STAGE: New acquisitions Cappie Pondexter, Nicole Powell and Taj McWilliams-Franklin introduced their All-Star style play to New York in the Liberty's regular season debut on May 16 ... All three players finished in double figures, with Pondexter taking charge with 22, McWilliams-Franklin with 20 and Powell with 11 ... McWilliams-Franklin's late free throws helped the Libs secure the first victory of the season.
