
Ivy Leaguer Joins Silver Hawks

South Bend Silver Hawks News Release
South Bend, IN - In conjunction with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the South Bend Silver Hawks have announced that RHP Brad Gemberling has joined the team from high-A Visalia. He is expected to start Wednesday's game against Fort Wayne.
Gemberling, Arizona's 24th round selection in 2009, attended Princeton where he starred on the baseball diamond for the Tigers. Gemberling was 12-6 in his college career, earning honorable mention All-Ivy selection in his senior season.
Last season, Gemberling appeared in 18 games for Arizona's short season A affiliate in Yakima, going 0-1 with a 6.43 ERA. In six starts and 12 relief appearances, Gemberling accumulated 42.0 innings while striking out 44 hitters.
Gemberling began this season in extended spring training, then jumped to high-A Visalia to fill in for a couple of weeks. In four starts, Gemberling was 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA. He allowed 16 runs in 17.1 innings, but struck out 17 batters as well.
The South Bend roster currently stands at 24 active players plus two on the disabled list. The Midwest League allows for 25 active players.
