Frisco RoughRiders News Release
After breaking out of a 0-11 slump on Saturday night and leading Frisco to victory, second baseman Matt Lawson lifted the RoughRiders over Midland again on Sunday afternoon. Lawson hit a grand slam in the bottom of the second inning to propel Frisco to its seventh straight win, 8-3 over the RockHounds.
The 'Riders took a 2-0 lead in the second after Elio Sarmiento and Guilder Rodriguez collected RBI singles. Then, with two outs and the bases loaded, Lawson drove a grand slam over the fence and onto the grass in the left field stands. Designated hitter Andy Jenkins added a solo home run in the fifth inning, his third home run in 12 games as a member of the 'Riders.
Blake Beavan (4-2, 3.57) won his second consecutive start. He went six innings and allowed one run on three hits, striking out three.
The 'Riders (18-12) and RockHounds (15-15) will play game three of a four-game series on Monday. RHP Tanner Roark (4-1, 4.57 ERA) will face off against Midland lefty Carlos Hernandez (2-0, 2.51). First pitch is scheduled for 7 P.M.
Notes: Frisco relievers had a 20.1 innings scoreless streak snapped in the 8th inning (2-run home run by Yusuf Carter against Adalberto Flores).
