Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release

Tulsa, OK - The Naturals could not get any offense going as they were routed by the Drillers 9-0 Sunday afternoon.

The game was scoreless until the Drillers (12-17) broke through with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. With two outs, Kenny Perez singled to reach base. Ryan Harvey followed with a two run homer over the left field wall. The shot was Harvey's fifth of the season, and it put Tulsa up 2-0.

Tulsa remained on the attack with three runs in the fifth inning. Dayton Buller reached base with a lead off walk. Jason Van Kooten then singled to left, which put two men on base. With two on, Anthony Jackson reached base on a bunt single, and Buller scored on a Naturals throwing error. Jeff Kindel then drove Van Kooten and Jackson home with a double to left field.

Already up 5-0, the Drillers added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Kiel Rolling reached first on a lead off walk, and Buller hit a single to left, which advanced Rolling to second. Van Kooten then came through with a double that brought Rolling home. Jackson then sent a line drive to center, which scored Buller. Daniel Mayora kept the hits coming, as he singled to left, and scored Van Kooten. Jeff Kindel hit into a force out, but it was enough to score Jackson, and it put the Drillers up 9-0, which is where the scored stayed.

The Naturals (19-10) only managed seven hits, as they were shutout for the second time this season. Johnny Giavotella and Kurt Mertins led the offense with two hits apiece.

Aaron Crow (1-2) suffered the loss for the Naturals. Crow was roughed up in his five innings of work. Crow gave up seven earned runs, walked four, and did not strike out a single batter. Blaine Hardy came on in relief, and gave up his first two earned runs of the season in two innings of work.

Bruce Billings (2-3) picked up the win for Tulsa. Billings pitched seven shut out innings, walked two, and struck out three.

The Naturals will look to rebound Monday night, as they continue their series with Tulsa. Game time for Monday is set for 7:05 p.m.
