Burlington Bees News Release
Burlington, IA (April 12, 2010) - The Bees still have space available for their Little Camp and Pitch, Hit & Run Competition. The event will take place on Saturday, April 24th at Community Field.
From 10:00-12:00pm, Bees' players and coaches will be conducting a baseball/softball camp for kids ages 7-14. Participates will have the opportunity to learn the basics of catching, throwing, fielding, hitting, and running from the Bees! Cost is just $25 per child. Anyone interested is asked to log onto www.gobees.com and fill out the registration form.
Following the camp, campers are encouraged to stay for the Aquafina Pitch, Hit & Run competition, the Official Skills Competition of Major League Baseball. This grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball skills.
Competitors are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the Nationals Finals at the 2010 MLB All-Star Game. The individual Pitching, Hitting, and Running Champions, along with the All-Around Champion in each age group will be awarded and advance to the Sectional Level.
All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate or baptismal record and fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of competition.
Lunch will be served after the competition. For more information, please contact the Bees at (319) 754-5705 or jared@gobees.com.
