Texas Stars Raise Over $21,000 For American Red Cross

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars announced on Monday that the silent auction from Saturday night's game raised $21,225 for the Service to the Armed Forces Branch of the American Red Cross of Central Texas.
The Texas Stars wore specialty camouflage jerseys for "Military Appreciation Night". Throughout the game, fans were able to bid on each player's jersey with the highest bid taking the jersey home at the end of the night. After the game, the winning fans took pictures with the players and received autographs along with the specialty jersey. All the donations that were collected were turned over the Service to the Armed Forces Branch of the American Red Cross of Central Texas. Right wing Raymond Sawada drew the highest bid at $3,100. Goalie Brent Krahn ($2,100), winger Luke Gazdic ($2,500), center Aaron Gagnon ($850) and left wing Francis Wathier ($800) rounded out the top five bids.
"Supporting our military personnel and their families is a central mission of the Red Cross," said American Red Cross of Central Texas CEO Marty McKellips. "Every day our staff and volunteers help five to six military families with a variety of services. The Texas Stars Hockey Club knows of our commitment and has been a great partner in continuing our mission."
The Texas Stars continue the State Farm Lone Star Face-off at Cedar Park Center on Tuesday, April 6th at 7:30 PM. Fans who bring an HEB Brand non-perishable food item will receive $5.00 off their ticket price. All games can be heard on the Stars flagship station ESPNAustin 104.9 FM "The Horn" or ESPNAustin 1530-AM.
