Mississippi Surge News Release

BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Surge and WOSM Radio 103.1 FM announced that the first two games of the 2010 President's Cup Playoffs against the Columbus Cottonmouths will be broadcasted on the gospel giants' 50,000-watt FM station, with the broadcast presented by Martin Lake Resort.

"We're excited to give Surge fans playoff hockey on an FM station that reaches from Slidell to Mobile," said Surge assistant general manager Chris Birch. "We're actively searching for partners to share in presenting the playoffs to fans down the stretch. The team has won the hearts of the Coast and it's great for the guys to play in enemy territory on Saturday in Columbus knowing the fans at home are listening."

The Surge opens the 2010 President's Cup Playoffs at home on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. against the Columbus Cottonmouths. Fans coming to the game may pick up the play by play broadcast in the Coliseum with hand held FM radios, and on Saturday may listen to Game 2 on the road in Columbus at 4PM Central Standard time.

Surge broadcaster Leif Skodnick will host the broadcasts and handle the play-by-play. A native of Princeton Junction, New Jersey, Skodnick spent three seasons in the ECHL as a broadcaster with Johnstown (2006-07) and Mississippi (2007-09) and was selected to the radio broadcast team for the 2008 ECHL All-Star Game in Stockton, California.

All seats are just $10 and can be purchased at the box office or by calling (228) 287-PUCK!
