March 24, 2010 - Major League Soccer (MLS) News Release

NEW YORK (Wednesday, March 24, 2010) - Aspiring young soccer players from coast-to-coast and around the globe have completely filled the 1,200 spots available nationally for Sueño MLS 2010 - built by The Home Depot, the nationally-televised player search which this season expands to Houston, and returns to Los Angeles and Chicago.

All 400 guaranteed tryout spots made available in each city filled in less than 24 hours. Registrations, filled on a first come, first serve basis, were received from 26 different states and 20 countries.

An additional 500 players have registered for the waiting list, which remains open at www.suenoMLS.com. The inaugural winner, Jorge Flores, began his quest as a waiting list player and is now on the Chivas USA senior roster and a member of the U-20 U.S. National Team.

In each city, players will battle in an open tryout format for one of 10 invitations to a week-long trial with the youth development club of the respective host team. Five from each city will ultimately be invited to an exciting five-day "Final Event" in Los Angeles. The finals will include training sessions, scrimmages, guest celebrity scouts, and an opportunity to meet some of the League's biggest stars. The ultimate champion will be crowned on Sunday, May 9, on "República Deportiva" (see calendar below for more information).

"República Deportiva," the highest-rated weekly sports magazine program on Spanish-language television in the United States which airs nationally every Sunday, will follow the action weekly in a unique "reality show within a show" format.

Sueño MLS 2010 - Built by The Home Depot, kicks off the weekend of Saturday, April 3 with two days of open tryouts in Houston.
