Monarchs Recall Mullen

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have recalled defenseman Patrick Mullen from the ECHL's Ontario Reign, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.

Mullen, 23, has recorded eight points (3-58) and 14 penalty minutes in 36 games during his rookie season in Manchester. The 6-foot, 181-pound native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania played in one game with Ontario this week and was held off the scoreboard. Mullen picked up his first AHL point, an assist, in his pro debut as the Monarchs topped the Albany River Rats, 6-3, on October 3, 2009. His first goal came on November 27, 2009 in a 4-2 win over the Springfield Falcons.

Prior to turning pro, Mullen played four years at the University of Denver. From 2005-09, Mullen registered 81 points (20-6181) and 148 penalty minutes in 152 games in which he split time as a forward and defenseman.
