Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have recalled defenseman Patrick Mullen from the ECHL's Ontario Reign, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.
Mullen, 23, has recorded eight points (3-58) and 14 penalty minutes in 36 games during his rookie season in Manchester. The 6-foot, 181-pound native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania played in one game with Ontario this week and was held off the scoreboard. Mullen picked up his first AHL point, an assist, in his pro debut as the Monarchs topped the Albany River Rats, 6-3, on October 3, 2009. His first goal came on November 27, 2009 in a 4-2 win over the Springfield Falcons.
Prior to turning pro, Mullen played four years at the University of Denver. From 2005-09, Mullen registered 81 points (20-6181) and 148 penalty minutes in 152 games in which he split time as a forward and defenseman.
The Monarchs return home to the Verizon Wireless Arena to face-off with the Portland Pirates on Friday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m. Catch all of the play-by-play action of Monarchs hockey with Ken Cail on the Monarchs Radio Network WGAM 900/1250 AM and at www.manchestermonarchs.com.
