Salvadoran Community Corridor To Recognize Osael Romero And Gerson Mayén

CARSON, Calif. (Friday, March 12, 2010) - Members of the Salvadoran Community Corridor, as well as representatives from the local government, will recognize Chivas USA midfielders Osael Romero and Gerson Mayén, honoring the players' achievements in soccer and leading example for the Salvadoran community in Los Angeles. Present at the event, which takes place this Sunday, will be State Senator Gil Cedillo and El Salvador General Consulate in Los Angeles Walter Durán.

Salvadoran midfielder Osael Romero, recently signed during Chivas USA's preseason, has scored eight goals in 39 appearances with the El Salvador National Team, helping the team throughout the World Cup Qualifying schedule last year. Gerson Mayén, a Chivas USA player since 2008, was born to Salvadoran parents in Los Angeles, and is a product of the Red-and-White's youth system. In 12 appearances for the Chivas USA first team, Mayén has four assists.

The Salvadoran Community Corridor is an area on Vermont Avenue, between Adams and 11th Street, which provides community services and neighborhood improvements to the Salvadoran community businesses and residents in Los Angeles. For more information, please visit salvadorancorredorusa.com.
