Rapid City Remains On Top Of Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll

March 4, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

(Tempe, Arizona) - For the second consecutive poll, the Rapid City Rush has been voted the #1 team on the Yellowbook CHL Coaches Poll. The Rush lead the Northern Conference by six points over the Colorado Eagles and are just one point behind the Odessa Jackalopes for the highest point total in the CHL and potentially the Governors' Cup (regular season champions). Odessa sat in the #1 spot in the coaches' poll for the first four months of the season but now find themselves in the #2 spot for the second consecutive poll. Once again, the margin between the Rush and the Southern Conference leading Jackalopes is just one point and the remainder of the top four remains unchanged with the Eagles sitting #3 and the Allen Americans sitting in the #4 spot.

The only movement on the current poll resides within the #5, #6 and #7 spots as the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs (only one regulation loss since the last poll was released in late February) have climbed one spot to #5 and the Laredo Bucks have moved up one notch as well now holding the #6 spot. The Texas Brahmas fell two spots to #7.

The expansion Missouri Mavericks have gone 8-2-0 in their last 10 games and have re-appeared on the current poll sitting in the #10 spot. The Tulsa Oilers are the team the Mavs replaced.

The Rush received nine of the possible 15 first place votes with Odessa earning six first place votes (teams are unable to vote for themselves). Each first place vote receives ten points, second place votes earn nine points, etc.

The final CHL Top 10 Coaches Poll for the 2009-10 season will be released on Thursday, March 25 following the conclusion of the regular season (season ends on March 20).
