Pink In The Rink 2010 Raises Over $31,000

March 3, 2010 - Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) Mississippi Surge

BILOXI, MS -- The Mississippi Surge, in conjunction with the Memorial Hospital Foundation and the Favre 4 Hope Foundation, announced that the 2010 Pink In The Rink jersey auction and surrounding events raised over $31,000 to benefit breast cancer patients on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Following Sunday's game, over 800 fans gathered at Hard Rock Live, located inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Biloxi, for the Pink In The Rink after-party and jersey auction. Twenty-two jerseys were auctioned off, raising $22,975, and the jerseys of Mike Richard, Chris Greene, and Matthew Larke selling for $3,500, $2,000, and $1,800, respectively. A special jersey worn by Deanna Favre and autographed by her and her husband, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre, sold for $2,000.

"This was, by far, our most successful Pink In The Rink event, since the Sea Wolves started the tradition in 2007-08," said Surge head coach and general manager Steffon Walby.

The proceeds from the jersey auction and surrounding events benefit the Memorial Hospital Foundation and the Favre 4 Hope Foundation, and will be used to pay for breast cancer imaging and treatment for women in need in South Mississippi.
