COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Columbus Cottonmouths took two out of three games over the past week. After falling 9-4 at Fayetteville, the Snakes exacted revenge on the FireAntz Thursday night in a 4-3 victory, then picked up their first win of the season over league-leading Huntsville on Saturday night in a 3-2 overtime victory. This week, the Snakes again play three games, with a unique Tuesday morning game at 10:30 AM EST against the Mississippi Surge. After a midweek break, Columbus embarks on a two-game road trip in Knoxville on Friday and Fayetteville on Saturday. All three games will be broadcast on B2 Networks with both a video and audio feed, with a nominal fee for each game. A free audio-only webcast of the games is also available. The Cottonmouths entertain the Mississippi Surge in a Tuesday morning contest at the Snake Pit. Mississippi brings the league's top special teams as they lead in both the power play (23.1% conversion rate) and penalty kill (85.4%). The Surge also have four of the league's top nine scorers, with Matt Zultek second to Fayetteville's Rob Sich in goals with 35 on the season and Michael Richard second to Chris Leveille of the FireAntz in assists with 36. The 5,000+ kids slated to be in attendance should be in for a good game as four of the five games between the two teams this season have been decided by a single goal, with the home team emerging victorious in each game.

Friday, February 12 - Columbus at Knoxville, 7:35 PM EST (Season Series vs. KNX: 3-1-2)
The Cottonmouths travel to Tennessee Friday to take on the Knoxville Ice Bears. The Ice Bears have emerged victorious in the two games played between the two teams so far in Knoxville, defeating the Snakes 6-1 in the last meeting between the two teams on January 15. Goaltender Chad Collins looks to carry the load for the Ice Bears as Andrew Gallant was placed on the 30-day injured reserve last week. After Friday, the Snakes and Ice Bears face each other just once more in Knoxville on February 27, with two more games between the two teams in Columbus in March.
Saturday, February 13 - Columbus at Fayetteville, 7:35 PM EST (Season Series vs. FAY: 4-5-0)
Columbus faces the Fayetteville FireAntz for the next-to-last time this season on Saturday night at the Crown Coliseum. After Saturday, the two teams face each other on March 26 in Fayetteville in the Snakes' next-to-last regular season contest. The Snakes look to rebound from a 9-4 loss last Tuesday night in Fayetteville, having won the rematch in the Snake Pit 4-3 on Thursday night.
COTTONMOUTHS WEEK IN REVIEW
Tuesday, February 2 - Columbus 4 at Fayetteville 9 (Attendance: 4,749)
The Fayetteville FireAntz jumped on the Snakes in the first eleven minutes of their game Tuesday night at the Crown Coliseum, building a 4-0 lead en route to a 9-4 win over Columbus. Sam Bowles and Kyle Lundale had identical three-point nights with a goal and two assists each. Jesse Cole and Ryan McCarthy also scored goals for Cottonmouths. Chad Rycroft took the loss between the pipes for the Snakes with 26 saves on 35 shots on goal. Guy St. Vincent picked up the win in net for Fayetteville with 17 saves on 18 shots in the first period before suffering an injury at the end of the period. Bryan Bridges spelled St. Vincent for the remainder of the game, stopping 27 of the 30 shots he faced. One of the bright spots for Columbus in the game was special teams as they were 2 for 8 on the power play and held the FireAntz scoreless in their four chances with the man advantage.
Thursday, February 4 - Fayetteville 3 at Columbus 4 (Attendance: 1,854)
Tim Green scored a pair of goals to lead the Cottonmouths to a 4-3 victory over the Fayetteville FireAntz on Thursday night. The win atoned themselves from a 9-4 loss in Fayetteville on Tuesday night. Sam Bowles and Tommy McMonagle also lit the lamp once each for the Snakes. Ian Vigier collected the win in net for the Snakes, stopping 42 of 45 shots on goal. Bryan Bridges took the loss between the pipes for Fayetteville with 25 saves on 29 shots on goal. Columbus was 0 for 2 on the power play while the FireAntz were 1 for 6 with the man advantage.
Saturday, February 6 - Huntsville 2 at Columbus 3 (OT) (Attendance: 3,888)
Sam Bowles provided a late third period goal and the overtime game-winner on Saturday night to give the Snakes a 3-2 win over Huntsville, the first victory of the season for Columbus over the Havoc. Levi Lind scored the other marker for the Snakes. Ian Vigier picked up the win in net for Columbus with 29 saves on 31 shots, while Jeremy Symington took the loss in his debut in goal for the Havoc, stopping 42 of 45. The Cottonmouths were 1 for 6 on the power play while Huntsville was 0 for 5.
THREE STARS OF THE WEEK
1. F Sam Bowles - Bowles had a total of four goals and two assists on the week, scoring at least once in each contest and the overtime game-winner Saturday.
