Hounds Acquire McCauley From Plymouth

January 10, 2010 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Soo Greyhounds News Release

Soo Greyhounds General Manager Dave Torrie announced early this afternoon that the team has acquired the rights to RW Myles McCauley from the Plymouth Whalers in exchange for RW James Livingston.

"This trades bring very mixed feelings to myself as General Manager of the Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club" began Torrie.

"First of all we are excited about adding Myles McCauley, whom we feel has an element of offensive skill that will be a real good fit with our team. As a 1991 birthdate we feel that he can contribute right now this season and possibly 2 more seasons afterwards. He has good size, vision and puck skills that has allowed him to contribute 17 goals already this season" stated Torrie on the newest Hound.

McCauley, who is in his 2nd season in the OHL was originally selected by the Whalers in the 14th round of the 2007 OHL Priority Selection. In 43 games played this season, McCauley has 17 goals and 13 assists for 30 points.

The 18-year old forward from Sterling Heights, Michigan stands 6.01 while weighing 180 lbs.

As with any trade, the deal involving Livingston who has been with the Hounds his entire career, was not an easy one.

"This has been an emotional day and is tough parting ways with our former first round pick James Livingston. James is a classy kid who has represented the Greyhounds organization and City of Sault Ste. Marie very well on and off the ice. He was proud to be a Greyhound and to play and live in SSM and we sincerely wish him all the best as he continues to pursue his hockey career:" concluded Torrie.

The Soo Greyhounds, including McCauley, return to action this coming Thursday, January 14 when they travel to Saginaw to take on the Spirit. Game time is 7:11 p.m.

The Ontario Hockey League trade deadline is set for 12 noon tomorrow - Monday, January 11, 2010.
