LaCouture Released By P-Bruins

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 18th year in the American Hockey League, announced that forward Dan LaCouture has been released from his Professional Tryout Agreement. With the move, the P-Bruins have 24 players on their roster, including 14 forwards, eight defensemen and two goaltenders.

LaCouture, 32, appeared in nine games for Providence, scoring one goal on December 19, 2009 at the Springfield Falcons. The goal was the veteran's only point for the P-Bruins as he also finished with a minus-three rating.

The Hyannis, Massachusetts, native signed with Providence on November 19, 2009, marking his return to the Boston Bruins organization after spending time in both Boston and Providence from 2004-06. As a member of the P-Bruins in 2004-05, LaCouture appeared in 64 games during the regular season, amassing 27 points (12g, 15a), before adding a goal and an assist in six postseason contests as Providence advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals. The following year, LaCouture suited up in 55 games for Boston, recording two goals and two assists.

In his career, the 13th year pro has appeared in 711 regular season games between the National Hockey League, AHL and international play, scoring 194 points (102g, 92a) and collecting 699 penalty minutes. LaCouture has added six goals and three assists in 35 career playoff contests. LaCouture was selected 29th overall by the New York Islanders in round two of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.

Providence is next in action on Friday hosting the Adirondack Phantoms at 7:05 p.m. for Jeff Penner Poster Night. The P-Bruins travel to face the Worcester Sharks on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. before returning home to welcome the Hartford Wolf Pack into town for a 4:05 p.m. Sunday start. Sunday's game is Jumbocard Night with jumbocards free to the first 1,000 kids 12 and under.
