Wolves Sterling Selected To AHL PlanetUSA All-Star Team

Chicago Wolves left wing BRETT STERLING has been selected to the PlanetUSA All-Star Team for the 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic, which will take place at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine, on Jan. 18 and Jan. 19.

The 25-year-old forward paces the Wolves and shares first in the AHL with 16 goals and ranks second on the club and shares 18th in the league with 28 points in 28 outings this season. He also ranks first on the team and shares second in the league with four game-winning goals and has posted 11 points (7G, 4A) in his last 10 games, which includes collecting eight points (5G, 3A) during a team season-high six-game point streak from Dec. 11 to Dec. 26.

This marks the third time in STERLING's four-year professional career he has been named to the PlanetUSA All-Star team. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2007 AHL All-Star Classic in Toronto after recording two goals and two assists to lead the PlanetUSA squad to a 7-6 victory over the Canadian Team.

The Los Angeles native has racked up 125 goals - the third most in franchise history - 110 assists and 235 points - fourth most in franchise history - in 227 career regular-season AHL matchups with Chicago, and was a member of the Wolves 2008 Calder Cup championship team. STERLING also has tallied four points (2G, 2A) and 16 penalty minutes in 19 career NHL contests with Atlanta, spanning two seasons (2007-09).
