The Dayton Gems, proud members of the International Hockey League, announced the signing ofMatt Szypura to a contract. This isSzypura's first season in the professional hockey joining the Gems after starting the season with the Chi-Town Shooters of the AAHL. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin at River Falls during his 4 seasons with the Falcons (NCAA) he played 59 games.Gems Coach John Marks: "The Gems look forward to having Szypura as a defensemen He will add strength and physicality that is much needed." Matt is originallyfrom Warrenville Illinois and also a personal trainer when he's not on the ice.
The Dayton Gems have waived Kevin Flather.
