Grizzlies Acquire Rights To Ferguson; Future Considerations From Florida

Boise, Idaho - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley announced today that the team has acquired the rights to forward Simon Ferguson along with future considerations from the Florida Everblades in exchange for Shea Guthrie.

Ferguson has played 13 games this year, and is currently with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch, tallying three assists and 64 penalty minutes. In 52 career ECHL games with Greenville in 2004-2005 and Augusta in 2006-2007, he has tallied 10 goals and 32 assists for 42 points and 248 penalty minutes. In 299 career AHL games with Edmonton, Portland, San Antonio and Syracuse, the six-foot tall 200-pound 26 year-old has totaled 31 goals and 50 assists for 81 points and 639 penalty minutes.

"We are building our team for a playoff run and are looking at the big picture for how our roster will begin to take shape as we go down the stretch this season," said Colley.

Guthrie had seven goals and six assists for 13 points in 22 games with the Grizzlies.

Utah returns to action Wednesday in Idaho. Face-off is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.

The Grizzlies are back at the E-Center Friday and Saturday when they will welcome in Bakersfield. Face-off both evenings is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
