Hamilton Hosts Milwaukee, Embarks On Three-Game Road Trip Before Christmas Break

The Hamilton Bulldogs (American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) will begin a busy week by hosting the Milwaukee Admirals (American Hockey League affiliate of the Nashville Predators) on Tuesday, December 15th, at 7:30 pm EST at Copps Coliseum. The 'Dogs will then take a pair of days off before playing three road games in three nights. Hamilton will faceoff against the Adirondack Phantoms (American Hockey League affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers) on Friday, December 18th at 7:30 pm EST in Glens Falls, New York. The Bulldogs will then travel to Connecticut to take on the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL affiliate of the New York Rangers) for a 7:00 pm EST game on Saturday night before wrapping things up in Rochester on Sunday afternoon for a matchup against the North Division's 1st-place Americans (AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers) at 5:00 pm EST.

Last week, Hamilton swept a two-game series with their North Division rival Abbotsford Heat, winning 5-1 on Wednesday, December 9th, and picking up a 3-0 shutout victory on Sunday, December 13th. Bulldogs G Cedrick Desjardins had a combined 48 saves in the wins, earning his league-leading fourth shutout of the season on Sunday.

HAMILTON BULLDOGS SALVATION ARMY FOOD DRIVE Volunteers of the Salvation Army will have collection boxes in the main entrance of Copps Coliseum. Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the Salvation Army. The Hamilton Bulldogs Organization has been involved in community food drives for a number of years and is excited about the prospect of lending a hand to the community once again. Please help stock food bank shelves in time for the holiday season. The Food Drive will run until Tuesday, December 15th.

SALUTE THE TROOPS NIGHT!

The Hamilton Bulldogs will be paying tribute to the brave men and women of Canada's Armed Forces with the "Salute the Troops" night at Copps Coliseum on December 30th. Red rally towels will be given out to the first 3,000 fans through the gates and while other great prizes and giveaways will be given out to fans throughout the game. There will be a pre-game ceremony with Military Honour Guard and band and there will be an on-ice military obstacle course during the intermission.

BULLDOGS NOTES:

- The Bulldogs earned their 500th regular season victory with a 3-0 win over the Lake Erie Monsters on Saturday, November 28th.

- The Bulldogs have the lowest goals against total in the AHL, having allowed just 56 opposition tallies in 27 games this season. The goaltending tandem of Curtis Sanford and Cedrick Desjardins has complemented Hamilton's defensive corps to shut down the opposition's attack.

- Hamilton G Cedrick Desjardins set a Bulldogs franchise record this past week for individual shutout streak. Desjardins went 212 minutes and 37 seconds without letting a single puck get past him. The record streak was snapped when Riley Armstrong scored late in the third period as the Bulldogs burned the Abbotsford Heat 5-1 on Wednesday, December 9th at Copps Coliseum. Desjardins has allowed just two goals against in his last seven appearances, boasting a 0.985 save percentage during that span. On Sunday, December 13th, the New Brunswick native earned his league-leading 4th shutout of the season as the Bulldogs defeated the Abbotsford Heat 3-0 at Copps Coliseum. With the shutout, Desjardins lowered his goals against average to 1.45, which ranks 2nd in the AHL, and pushed his save percentage to 0.944, which also ranks 2nd in the league.

- Hamilton C Brock Trotter is currently riding a six-game point streak during which the Brandon, Manitoba native has scored four goals and added four assists for eight points. Trotter currently leads the 'Dogs in scoring with eight goals and 15 assists for 23 points on the year.

- Bulldogs rookie D P.K. Subban has scored nine points (4-5-9) in his last ten games. The Rexdale, Ontario native is currently tied for 3rd on the team in scoring with five goals and 10 assists for 15 points, and leads the 'Dogs with a +12 rating. Subban's +12 rating also ranks him in a tie for 12th in the AHL in that category.

- Bulldogs C David Desharnais is riding a three-game point streak during which the Quebec native has scored three goals and one assist for four points. Since returning from a foot injury that kept him out of the lineup for the team's first 13 games of the season, Desharnais has scored eight goals and seven assists for 15 points in just 13 games played. Desharnais' 15 points rank him in a tie for 3rd on the team in scoring.

- Bulldogs RW J.T. Wyman had his four-game point streak snapped as the Bulldogs defeated the Abbotsford Heat 3-0 on Sunday at Copps Coliseum. The Minnesota native had scored one goal and five assists for six points during his streak.

- Hamilton C Ryan Russell had his four-game goal-scoring streak snapped in the 'Dogs' 3-0 win over Abbotsford on Sunday. The Caroline, Alberta native did however register an assist in the win, extending his point streak to five games.

- The Bulldogs welcomed C Ryan White back to the lineup this week after being re-assigned by the team's National Hockey League affiliate, the Montreal Canadiens.

This will be the third of ten meetings between the North Division rivals this season Rochester and Hamilton have already squared off twice this season, with the Americans coming away with victories on both occasions downing Hamilton 4-1 on November 10th and 5-2 on November 24th The Americans currently sit in 1st place in the North Division with a 19-7-1-0 record and 39 while, while the 2nd-place Bulldogs sit two points back with a 16-6-2-3 record and 37 points Rochester currently has the best winning percentage in the AHL at .722 In 2008-2009, Hamilton earned a 5-3-0-0 record in eight games against the Americans, with two of the five Bulldogs victories coming after a shootout The Bulldogs will go into Sunday afternoon's contest with a 52-62-7-0-3 record against Rochester Centremen Jamie Johnson (9-13-22) and Chris Taylor (6-16-22) currently lead the Americans in scoring with 22 points apiece in 27 games played There are a total of six Ontario natives currently listed on the Rochester roster: C Jamie Johnson (Port Franks), C Chris Taylor (Stratford), D Michael Caruso (Mississauga), D Peter Aston (Toronto), D James DeLory (Scarborough), and G Chris Beckord-Tseu (Toronto)
