Moose Split Week 11 With Admirals

The Manitoba Moose closed-out their first-ever season series against the Norfolk Admirals in Week 11 and earned two of a possible four points. They recorded their first franchise win against Tampa Bay's affiliate with a 4-1 victory on Friday, but dropped a 5-4 decision in the rematch on Saturday. Marty Murray earned three points (2g & 1a) in Week 11 -- the most of any player on the roster, while Aaron Rome notched a pair of goals in Friday's victory. Dusty Collins and Alexandre Bolduc both notched their first goals of the season in Saturday's rematch against the Admirals.
Friday, December 11, 2009: Manitoba 4, Norfolk 1 The Manitoba Moose notched three goals in the third period to beat the Norfolk Admirals 4-1 in front of 3,614 spectators at Norfolk Scope Arena on Friday night. Aaron Rome scored a pair of goals while Matt Pettinger and Marty Murray both potted empty-netters. Goaltender Cory Schneider stopped 28 of 29 shots in his 13th win this season.
Saturday, December 12, 2009: Manitoba 4, Norfolk 5 In their last meeting this regular season, the Moose dropped a 5-4 decision to the Admirals on Saturday night to finish with a 1-3-0-0 record against the Norfolk club this campaign. Dusty Collins and Alexandre Bolduc both notched their first goals of the season while Sergei Shirokov and Marty Murray evened out the scoring. Daren Machesney suffered his third loss against the Admirals stopping 44 of 49 shots.
Moose Notes
QUICKEST DUO: In Friday night's game, the Moose notched two goals within 34 seconds of each other -- the fastest pair of Manitoba goals this season. These goals were also both empty-netters. This is the second time this season the Moose have notched two-empty net goals in less than two minutes -- the last time was on November 20 when Mike Keane notched both against Hamilton (3rd period, 18:29 & 3rd period, 19:39).
ROAD RECAP: The Manitoba Moose embarked on their fifth road trip of the season in Week 11 and finished the two-game tour with a 1-1-0-0 record. So far this season, the Moose hold a 7-8-2-0 road record and dropped their latest road matchup on Saturday with a 5-4 loss to Norfolk. The Moose are now homebound for their next eight games and won't be back on the road until January 12, 2010 in Abbotsford.
Upcoming Opponents
The Manitoba Moose play host to the Lake Erie Monsters for the first time this season in a weekend double-header. So far this season the Moose hold a 1-1-0-0 record against the Monsters after earning a 3-2 victory on Oct. 16 followed by a 5-2 loss in the rematch the next night. Historically, Manitoba holds an 11-2-1-0 record against the Colorado Avalanche affiliate.
Player of the Week Nominee
For the first time this season, Moose centre Marty Murray is the nominee for AHL Player of the Week...This week, the Lyleton, Manitoba native recorded three points (2g & 1a) while firing eight shots on net... On December 11, Murray recorded a goal and an assist against the Norfolk Admirals in Manitoba's first-ever win over the club (4-1W)... He fired four shots on net and finished the night a plus-1... In the rematch, he netted his eighth goal of the season to extend his points streak to two games... He fired four shots in the 5-4 loss... Murray currently sits third on the team leaderboard with 19 points (8g & 11a) after 33 games played...
