Texas Beats Rockford 4-2

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars (19-6-2-2, 42 points) defeated the Rockford IceHogs (14-13-2-1, 31 points) 4-2 in front of 4,716 fans at the Cedar Park Center on Friday night. Right wing Mathieu Beaudoin broke a 2-2 tie with 7:18 left in regulation and Greg Rallo sealed the Stars' fourth straight win over Rockford. Goalie Matt Climie (8-6-2) made 35 saves to preserve the victory. Defenseman Dan Jancevski and left wing Francis Wathier also scored as Texas improved to 9-3-1-1 at home this year. Rockford goalie Joe Fallon (7-7-1) suffered the defeat with 26 saves. Texas will host Rockford at 7:00 pm on Saturday night.

The two teams skated to a scoreless tie for the first 15 minutes of the game. Rockford took a 1-0 lead off a power-play goal by Daryl Boyle at 15:08. Winger Kyle Greentree set up the goal, finding Boyle for his third goal of the season with a cross-ice feed. Texas countered at 17:59, tying the game 1-1 after Francis Wathier's seventh goal of the year. Wathier finished off a centering pass from Greg Rallo in front of the Rockford net. The IceHogs regained the lead with one minute left in the period. Greentree ripped a slapshot past Texas goalie Matt Climie for his seventh goal of the year, a power-play tally that gave Rockford a 2-1 lead. The Stars tied the game prior to the end of the period. Defenseman Dan Jancevski scored his first goal of the year at 19:59. Jancevski fired the puck at the net, beating the goalie Joe Fallon and the buzzer for the 2-2 score.

In the second period, Texas scored the lone goal of the period. The Stars caught the IceHogs on a line change, taking a 3-2 lead at 12:42. Forward Travis Morin sprung right wing Mathieu Beaudoin for a breakaway. Beaudoin beat Fallon with a backhand shot, giving the Stars the one-goal lead after two periods of play.

In the third period, Texas added the final goal of the night with a power-play goal by Greg Rallo. The Stars right winger ripped a shot off the pads of Fallon from the bottom of the right-wing circle, scoring his team-leading 12th goal of the season at 18:19 and a 4-2 final score.

The Stars continue a four-game home stand with Rockford on Saturday, December 12th at 7:00 pm. On Saturday night, State Farm will feature its Family 4-Pack which includes four tickets, four hot dogs, and four soft drinks for $44.00. The first 2,000 fans to arrive at Cedar Park Center will receive a Texas Stars winter hat. The Stars will conclude their four-game home stand with Houston at 7:30 PM on Tuesday night at Cedar Park Center.
