Juniors sink Drakkar 4 to 1

Montreal, December 11th, 2009 - The Juniors hosted the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in the Auditorium on this Friday night. Montreal dominated most of the game and cruised to a 4 to 1 victory. David Cliché scored for the Drakkars while Eliezer Sherbatov, Chris Thorne (2 goals), and Alex Wall tallied for the Juniors.

The only goal in the first period came from Baie-Comeau Drakkar center, David Cliché, who tapped the puck home as he was parked right in front of the net at 3:58. Assists were given to linemates Mike Villeneuve and Marc-Olivier Mimar. The Juniors would even things up in the second when winger Eliezer Sherbatov scored in traffic at 4:59 from Nicolas Chouinard and Pier-Antoine Dion. Montreal took the lead when forward Chris Thorne scored on a beautiful give-and-go from Louis-Marc Aubry and Guillaume Asselin at 14:50 of the second.

In the third, the Juniors took advantage on power play when defenseman Alex Wall ripped one from the point past Simon Giroux glove side at 7:34. Montreal put the match away when Thorne scored again from Guillaume Asselin in an odd-man rush at 16:58.

Montreal goalie and first star of the match Jake Allen was sharp as he made several spectacular saves and stopped 25/26 shots for the win. Drakkar goalie Simon Giroux denied 31/34 shots in loss. The Juniors now have a record of 16-15-0-2 while the Drakkar record is at 10-20-2-1.

The Juniors will be on the road for the holidays and will not return until after Christmas. They will travel west to Gatineau to face the Olympiques on Sunday. Montreal will visit Val-d'Or Thursday, December 17th and Gatineau again on December 28th. The next home game will be against the Shawinigan Cataractes on Wednesday, December 30th, at 7:35PM.
