Heat Vs Americans Preview - Carpentier Reassigned

December 5, 2009 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Abbotsford Heat News Release

ABBOTSFORD BC - The AHL's top team this season, the Rochester Americans (18-4-1) will pay a visit to their division rivals, the Abbotsford HEAT (13-10-4) in AHL North Division action in Abbotsford on Saturday night.

The HEAT are coming back home after a fairly successful road trip, winning three of their four games, including a 3-0 shutout victory over the Toronto Marlies. Abbotsford currently is in 4th place in the North Division, seven points back of the Americans and four points up on 5th place Grand Rapids. Abbotsford is 5-4-0-1 in their past ten games, and are 5-4-2-1 on home ice this season.

Rochester has been tremendous all season long. The Americans have already had an 11 game win streak this season and have used that streak to springboard to the top of the AHL standings. The Americans are 7-3 in their last ten games and are 8-4 on the road so far in this campaign.

Balance throughout the line up has been a key to the Rochester success story. The Americans have eight players with at least 12 points and five players with at least seven goals, including three players (Jamie Johnson, Graham Mink and David Brine) who have scored nine goals.

The Amerks goaltending has also been stellar, as four goaltenders have now shared the duties in Rochester's nets with the departure to the NHL of Alexander Salak. Salak had posted a 15-1 record with the Americans before being recalled to Florida December 2nd.

The Heat now can rely on both Leland Irving and Matt Keetley in between the pipes. Keetley has returned from injury and picked up his first win and shutout of the season in a 3-0 win over the Marlies on Tuesday night. Keetley now has a 2.78 goals against average while Irving has a 2.56 goals against average. Both Keetley and Irving both sport save percentages of 91% or better.

The AHL's best is in town for two...catch all the action LIVE on Country 107.1 FM. The Honda Way pregame show kicks off at 5:30 pm, while all the action of Fido Abbotsford HEAT hockey begins at 6 pm.
