Columbus Adds Defenseman Mathieu Roy On Emergency Recall

Syracuse, NY (December 1, 2009) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have added defenseman Mathieu Roy on emergency recall from the Crunch.

Roy, 26, has appeared in 13 games for the Crunch this season, collecting four assists and 32 penalty minutes. He has also skated in seven games for Columbus this year, notching four assists.

In 254 combined AHL games with Toronto (Roadrunners), Edmonton (Roadrunners), Hamilton, Springfield and Syracuse, Roy has accumulated 16 goals, 79 assists and 422 penalty minutes.

In addition, Roy has appeared in 37 combined NHL games with Edmonton and Columbus, tallying two goals, five assists and 52 penalty minutes.

A native of St-Georges, Quebec, Roy was signed by Columbus as a free agent on July 14, 2009.

The Crunch travel to Binghamton on Friday, December 4 before returning home to wrap up a home-and-home series with the Senators on Saturday December 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the War Memorial at Oncenter.
