SANDY, Utah (Thursday, November 26, 2009) - Real Salt Lake hopes to put a little Claret-and-Cobalt in Utah shoppers' "Black Friday" excursions to kick off the busiest shopping weekend of the year, as the club's staff, players, volunteers and season ticket holders will open up shop at two locations to better serve its loyal fans this Friday, November 27.The fun begins at midnight on Friday morning, when the first order of Real Salt Lake's official adidas MLS Cup 2009 Championship merchandise will highlight the opening of the team's Ticketing Department kiosk at the South Towne Center mall, located at 10600 South and State Street in Sandy (just east of Interstate-15 at 10600 South Exit). The kiosk opening, part of South Towne Center's "Black Friday Jammy Jam," will feature the chance to purchase from the team's initial shipment of 100 championship scarves and 200 championship T-shirts, with the scarves retailing for $30 and the T-Shirts (available in adult sizes small through XXL) for $20. The RSL Kiosk will be located on the first floor of the South Towne Center's northwest concourse, and can be most easily accessed via the mall entrance nearest REI.
The South Towne Center Kiosk will serve this Holiday season as another location where supporters of the beautiful game can become an RSL "Fan for Life" by becoming a Season Ticket Holder for the squad's upcoming 2010 MLS season. One of the many benefits of becoming an RSL "Fan for Life" will be a 25% discount on all RSL merchandise through the Holiday season - including all MLS Cup 2009 Championship items. With RSL Season Ticket Packages beginning at just $275, now is the best time to secure seats at Rio Tinto Stadium for the soccer fans in your life, as Zion's Lions will not only defend their MLS Cup Championship in 15 regular season contests, but will also participate in its first major international competition - the 2010/11 CONCACAF Champions League - in addition to hosting potential Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and exhibition contests. A full listing of RSL "Fan for Life" benefits is included below, but for more information fans can visit the RSL Kiosk at South Towne Center from 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. on Sunday through Christmas Day (visit www.SouthTowneCenter.com for the full listing of daily hours), or call the RSL offices at 801-727-2700.
Later Friday morning at 10:00 a.m., Real Salt Lake will utilize the help of some of its dedicated volunteers and staff to open up the RSL Team Store at Rio Tinto Stadium for the first time this Holiday season. To open up in style, MLS Cup MVP Nick Rimando will be on hand to greet fans, sign autographs, and sell the remaining stock of his limited-edition "Nick is My Homeboy" T-shirts; the store will continue its "Half-off Playoff Blowout" special on all non-MLS Cup Championship items for one final day; and Vanity Fare Catering ( www.vanityfarecatering.com) will provide free pastries and coffee for all those early-rising shoppers braving the masses beginning at 9:00 a.m. outside the Team Store doors.
With RSL merchandise flying off the shelves following last Sunday's MLS Cup triumph in Seattle, fans are encouraged to purchase their Claret-and-Cobalt gear before supplies are exhausted, as the RSL Team Store will not receive additional shipments of their regular and championship merchandise until next Friday, Dec. 4. Prices for the remainder of the Holiday shopping season will return to normal retail value beginning on Saturday - with the only discounts through the New Year going to RSL Season Ticket Holders. To see the full line of MLS Cup Championship products that will hit the RSL Team Store shelves come early December, visit RSL's Official Team Blog, Behind the Shield - located at www.RSLtotheCore.com - beginning next week.
With the RSL Merchandise Staff scattered across the country for Thanksgiving Day, the RSL Team Store can only open up on Friday thanks to the help of some of its dedicated employees, loyal volunteers and even some RSL Season Ticket Holders! The store would like to recognize four of its earliest volunteers-turned employees, Rosie Gale, Mitch Edmonds, Brooke King and Mike McKee; and "Fans for Life" Dusty Silvester, Bobby Hansen, Jake Hansen, and Francisco Soto for their assistance in giving fans the chance to dress like champions beginning on Friday. For more information on all your Claret-and-Cobalt merchandise needs - or to call ahead to see if supplies of Championship gear are still available - please call the RSL Team Store at 801-727-2888.
