Cats Coffee Talk

November 26, 2009 - Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Moncton Wildcats

Big night for Tree of Hope:

The annual Tree of Hope Campaign, the major fundraiser for the Dr. Georges-L Dumont Hospital Foundation, will be the centre of attention at centre ice during the first intermission of tonight's game against Drummondville.

The Wildcats, Moncton Minor Hockey and the Tree of Hope organizers developed a program of Christmas wreath selling over the past month. The idea was to have minor hockey players go door to door in their neighborhood selling the wreaths, with part of the proceeds going to minor hockey and the Tree of Hope. The top ten wreath sellers will be presented with signed Wildcats jerseys following the cheque presentation. Two radiohons support Tree of Hope, big crowds were on hand this morning for the CBC radio broadcast from the NBCC in Dieppe and an equal number is expected during the French broadcast tomorrow morning.

Art on Ice students thrilled with Cats visit:

Students at Magnetic Hill School impressed members of the Wildcats with their Art on Ice creations on Monday afternoon. The players and students met in the cafeteria where each class explained and displayed their art work. The students had a chance to chat with the players and get much sought after autographs. The Art on Ice creations will go on display at both the Coliseum and participating downtown Moncton businesses starting next week. There'll be a silent auction for the art with the proceeds going to the schools in District 2.

Movember campaign ends with Dec.1st game:

The Wildcats effort to create awareness on behalf of Prostate Cancer research will wrap up with the December 1st game against Lewiston. Male members of the staff have growing mustaches and getting pledges to support this very important charity during the past month.
