Lynchburg Baseball Corp. Elects Officers For 2009-10

November 25, 2009 - Carolina League (CarL) Lynchburg Hillcats

The Lynchburg (Hillcats) Baseball Corp. elected its officers for 2009-10 at the annual directors meeting in November. C. Rex Angel has been elected President. Calvin Falwell, who has served as President for the corporation since its inception in 1966, will now become the Chairman of the Board.

Falwell brought Carolina League Baseball to Lynchburg in 1966 when he formed and became President of Lynchburg Baseball Corp. He was honored as the 1998 winner of the John H. Johnson President's Trophy. In 2004, the baseball field at the newly renovated Lynchburg City Stadium was officially named Calvin Falwell Field in his honor. At the professional baseball Winter Meetings in 2005, Falwell was crowned the "King of Baseball."

"I appreciate the confidence that Calvin and the other members of the Board has placed in me," said Angel, who previously served as the Vice President of the corporation. "Our goal remains - Hillcats baseball and all that goes with it, at affordable prices."

Joseph Knakal Jr. has been elected as Vice President, and Gene Gallagher (Secretary) and William Hibbert (Treasurer) have been re-elected in their same position for another term. Paul Sunwall, who also is a current stockholder, will return as the Hillcats' General Manager.
