Lancers' Ludwig Named CCM Defensive Player Of The Week

November 24, 2009 - United States Hockey League (USHL) Omaha Lancers

The Omaha Lancers in conjunction with the United States Hockey League (USHL) are pleased to announce that Lancers' defenseman CJ Ludwig has been named CCM Defensive Player of the Week for Week 8 of the 2009-2010 season. It's the fourth time this season an Omaha Lancer has been recognized with a weekly USHL honor after Matt White was named Reebok Offensive Player of the Week for Week 6 and Jeff Teglia was twice named USHL Goaltender of the Week.

The second-year Lancers defenseman registered two goals, an assist and a +4 rating in a pair of Lancers' victories this past weekend. On Friday, Ludwig recorded his first goal of the season with a power play tally late in period one and then added an assist to go along with a game-high +3 rating in Omaha's 5-1 win over the Des Moines Buccaneers. The Dallas, Texas native closed the weekend with another power play goal just 90 seconds into the second period of Saturday's game which kick started a five-goal frame guiding the Lancers to a 6-1 victory over visiting Sioux Falls. Ludwig currently ranks 3rd among all Lancers blue liners with 7 points (2 goals, 5 assists) on the season.

The Lancers (15-2, 30 Pts.) remain atop both the West Division and USHL standings and have now reeled off victories in 12 of their last 13 games overall. Omaha is back in action tomorrow evening when they welcome the Waterloo Black Hawks to the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
