Mallards Sign White

MOLINE, Ill. (November 20, 2009) - The Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, today announced that the team has signed centerman Justin White. Per Mallards team policy no contract terms were disclosed.

White, a 24-year old rookie, played two games with the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones before joining the Mallards. The Traverse City, Michigan, native last season completed a four-year collegiate career at Notre Dame by scoring nine goals and notching 15 points in 38 games. The 6' 0", 184-pound White, who helped the Fighting Irish to the 2008 NCAA title game as a junior, scored 15 goals and produced 44 points in 119 career games for the golden domers.

At Notre Dame White played for Jeff Jackson, one of the leading coaches in college hockey, who began his coaching career as an assistant to Mallards Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Frank Anzalone at Lake Superior State.

Before heading to South Bend White played three seasons of junior hockey in the United States Hockey League for the Topeka Scarecrows, St. Louis Heartland Eagles and Sioux Falls Stampede.

The Mallards return to action tonight in Port Huron, where they will face the Icehawks for the first time this season, and then travel to Muskegon tomorrow evening to take on the Lumberjacks before returning home to meet the Fort Wayne Komets Sunday afternoon at at 4:00 p.m. The first 1,000 children ages 12-and-under through the doors for Sunday's game will receive free Webkinz. In addition to the Webkinz giveaway, after Sunday's game fans in attendance will have the chance to lace up their skates and join the Mallards on the ice for the team's second Family Skate Night of the season. The Mallards will welcome fans to Family Skate Nights after each of the Flock's Sunday games this season. Following the contest Sunday fans are also invited to join Mallards players in migrating to O'Keefe's Sports Pub & Grub at 1331 5th Avenue in Moline for a post game party.

The box office is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. through the end of the second period.
