(Central Islip, N.Y., November 16, 2009) - Long Island Ducks team officials today announced dates and starting times for their 140-game 2010 regular season schedule. Long Island's home schedule begins on Thursday, April 22 at Citibank Park against the Lancaster Barnstormers. For the second time in franchise annals, the Ducks play host to the Atlantic League All-Star Game and festivities, in which the Liberty and Freedom Division All-Stars clash on Tuesday, July 6 at 7:05 p.m. The Ducks previously hosted the 2002 All-Star contest, with the South Division defeating the North Division All-Stars, 4-1."We're excited about launching our 11th season on Long Island," said Michael Pfaff, general manager of the Ducks. "We have averaged over 100% attendance capacity through our first 10 seasons and look forward to doing it again in 2010."
The 2010 Ducks home schedule includes a challenging start, as Long Island opens up against the aforementioned Barnstormers, followed by a visit from the defending Atlantic League champion Somerset Patriots.
Multiple holiday contests dot the 2010 schedule. On Sunday, June 20, the Ducks will celebrate Father's Day with a 1:35 p.m. game against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. On Sunday, July 4, Long Island will take on Newark in a 7:05 p.m. start at Citibank Park and on Labor Day, Monday, September 6, the Ducks will take on the Bridgeport Bluefish in a 6:35 p.m. showdown. Both the July 4 and September 6 holiday games, as well as the All-Star Game, will be followed by a Grucci fireworks extravaganza. The complete home schedule follows this release.
