KEARNEY, NE - The Tri-City Storm (7-4-1, 15 pts) outshot the Omaha Lancers (12-1-0, 24 pts) 38-33, but still fall to the West Division leaders, 4-1. The loss was the first in regulation for the Storm on home ice this season.The Storm started off the game with a couple big scoring chances; however Lancer goalie Jeff Teglia made 5 saves in the first 2-minutes of the first period to give the Lancers momentum.
Lancers scored the first two goals of the game in the opening period, as Matt White and Joe Lavin scored 5-minutes and 24-seconds apart to give the Lancers a 2-0 lead at the first intermission. Lavin's goal was the only power play goal scored on the night.
Tri-City's Nate Jensen scored his third goal of the season 41-seconds into the second period, as Jaden Schwartz and Maxwell Tardy assisted on the Storm's lone goal.
However, 2-minutes and 44-seconds later Omaha got the goal back, as Seth Ambroz gave the Lancers a 3-1 lead. That goal was assisted by Erik Haula, who had three assists and Matt White, who ended the game with one goal and two assists.
Omaha capped the scoring in the third period with Ryan Daugherty scoring the final goal of the game to give the Lancers a 4-1 victory over the Storm.
The Lancers are 2-0 against the Storm this season and the two teams will battle three more times in the regular season.
Carsen Chubak (6-4-1) made 29 saves on 33 shots in the loss for the Storm. Teglia (9-1-0) made 37 saves on 38 shots earning the win for Omaha.
The Storm on the power play was 0-3, while the Lancers were 1-5 with the man-advantage.
The Storm is on the road for four straight games before returning home on November 25th against the Sioux City Musketeers. Tri-City will battle the Waterloo Black Hawks this Friday night and play the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders the following night in Iowa.
