CALGARY, AB - Calgary Roughnecks President and General Manager Brad Banister announced today that the club has signed Cayle Ratcliff and Joe Vetere to one year deals. Terms of the deals were not disclosed and are subject to league approval.Ratcliff, a 22-year-old forward, suited up for the Nanaimo Timbermen during the off-season, tallying 22 goals and 31 assists for 53 points. In 17 regular season games with Nanaimo, Ratcliff notched five power play goals and 10 power play assists.
Ratcliff, who is the younger brother of former Roughnecks' forward Lewis Ratcliff, spent his first season with the Roughnecks in 2009 but didn't see any floor time.
The five-foot-eight, 204-pound forward was selected by the Roughnecks in the second round (15th overall) in the 2008 NLL Entry Draft.
Vetere, a native Calgarian, spent time on the Roughnecks practice roster last season, but like Ratcliff didn't see any floor time.
The 22-year-old forward played for the Langley Thunder of the WLA during the summer months notching 25 points, including 11 goals and 14 assists in 15 regular season games. In that time, Vetere recorded two short-handed goals and two game winning goals.
The Calgary Roughnecks and Edmonton Rush are scheduled to hit Lethbridge's ENMAX Centre on Saturday, December 19th for an exhilarating exhibition matchup. Game time is 7:30 p.m. MST.
The Calgary Roughnecks kick-off the 2010 season on Sunday, January 10th at the Pengrowth Saddledome against the Minnesota Swarm.
