CHIEFS TRAVEL TO SEATTLE TONIGHT

Sandwiched between two opponents from then B.C. Division at home, the Spokane Chiefs will travel today to play the Seattle Thunderbirds at 7:30 in ShoWare Center in their only road game of the week. VANCOUVER VISITS SATURDAY NIGHT

Two seasons, two playoff series, two different winners. That sums up the history of the Spokane Chiefs and Vancouver Giants who only face each other twice during the regular season but have put together two memorable playoff series the past to post-seasons.

The Chiefs and Giants will play for the only time in the Spokane Arena this season on Saturday, November 7th at 7:00 on Coca-Cola Buck Night and Red Out. Fans can enjoy $1 Coca-Cola products, hot dogs and popcorn all night long and are encouraged to turn the Arena into a sea of red by wearing the color on Saturday night.

In 2008, Vancouver won the first game of their best-of-seven in the Spokane Arena, but it was the Chiefs who came through with the series win in six games. That second round series was one of four that the Chiefs won on their way to the WHL and Memorial Cup Championships.

Last year's seven game series featured three overtime games, games five, six and seven, and the second longest game in WHL history. Blake Gal finished off a four-overtime marathon in game five of the series to give Spokane a 3-2 lead with game six coming back to Spokane.

The Giants won game six in overtime and forced a seventh game to be played in Vancouver. Nick Ross scored the game's only goal 1:56 into overtime to send Vancouver into the Western Conference Finals.
