November 6, 2009 - Western Hockey League (WHL) Regina Pats

This will be the fifth of eight match-ups between the Saskatoon Blades and the Regina Pats. The two met up at C.U.C. on October 21st with the Blades escaping with the 4-3 win. Travis Toomey score twice, including the winner, while the Pats were lead by Jordan Eberle's goal and assist.

The last meeting at the Brandt Centre in Regina saw the blue and white drop a 4-1 decision to the Blades. Josh Nichols had the hot stick that night with a goal and a pair of assists.

The second meeting of the year was also at the Brandt Centre and the Pats come out on top 5-4 in a shoot-out. Matt Strueby had a pair of goals and the shoot-out winner, also scoring for the Pats was Jordan Weal and Tomas Hricina. Dawson Guhle picked up his first ever WHL win stopping.

The Blades currently lead the season series 2-1 with the next meeting coming in November.

Subway Challenge:

Jordan Eberle and Colten Teubert will be playing for Team WHL in the upcoming Subway Super Series against team Russia on Wednesday, November 25th in Victoria.

Eberle topping the charts:

Jordan Eberle is currently the Pats active leader in goals with 118 for his Pat career. This pushes him into the top 20 all time and pushes him past Clark Gillies (71-74), and is now 2 back of Jeff Friesen (91-95) for 15th on the all-time goal list. Eberle's 232 points pushes him past Rhett Gordon (92-96) and 5 back of Rob Tudor (72-76).

Solid on the Power Play:

With the likes of Jordan Eberle, Jordan Weal and Brett Leffler, the Regina Pats have the 4th ranked power play in the WHL at 28%; it's been their power play on the road that has been especially good running at a 29% clip, good for fourth in the WHL.

Next Action:

The Pats continue their 5 game home stand Sunday night, with the Prince Albert Raiders making their first appearance this season at the Brandt Centre. It's a 6pm puck drop and a 5:35 pre-game show start on 620 CKRM with Rod Pedersen and Al Dumba.
