ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that the club has joined the third annual "Movember" campaign to raise money for the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Lance Armstrong Foundation this November.Several River Rats players and front office staff will don mustaches for the month-long fundraiser and the team is asking fans to join the cause by growing out their lip-fur and then making a donation via a team-imposed "Moustache Tax" through the Movember website at http://us.movember.com/mospace/323750/. Fans who cannot grow-out their facial hair can still support the campaign by purchasing a fake moustache, courtesy of The Party Warehouse, at the Time Warner Cable Fan Relations Center on the Times Union Center concourse during November home games.

Fans are also invited to send pictures of their Movember Rat-Staches to kevino@albanyriverrats.com to be featured on www.albanyriverrats.com. Albany's official website will host a weekly "stache-off" between a top player-stache and a top fan-stache; the winner of the stache-off will be determined by fan-vote and will win an exciting River Rats prize.
Movember, the largest global event dedicated to men's health, has raised over $47 million to support men's health issues through official moustache-growing campaigns in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia and Spain.
"The moustache is our ribbon" said Movember Co-Founder and CEO Adam Garone, "If you don't normally have a moustache, you're compelled to explain your new look to everyone, which starts conversations about prostate and testicular cancer.
