CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders announced today the formation of the Rider Girls Dance
Team presented by Bimm Ridder. The Rider Girls will be an 8-10 person cheerleading/dance team that will help
to create an energetic atmosphere at all RoughRider home games, revving up the crowd, assisting in promotions,
and enhancing the overall game experience. The Rider Girls will also promote the RoughRiders through various
off-site promotions and special events.Dancers must be female, 21 years or older, and if selected, must reside in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area. The following qualifications have also been established:
* Outgoing personality
* Comfortable performing
* Dance/cheer experience
* Availability at all RoughRider home games
* Leadership abilities
* Ability to skate is a plus
Specific Rider Girls Responsibilities for the 2009-2010 hockey season:
* Attend all RoughRider home games at Happy hour (1 hour 15 min prior to game time)
* Greet fans as they enter into the stable; mingle with people in the arena.
* Perform dances during intermissions
* Help shovel ice during TV timeouts
* Go to bars, special events and public venues handing out RoughRider promotional material.
* Help sell RoughRider apparel at games and off-site.
* Shoot the Bimm Ridder Fun Gun during intermissions
* Rev up crowd during game time
* Help at occasional charity events such as golf outings, car washes, book readings at schools, etc.
The Rider Girl Dance Captain as well as the other members of the dance team will be compensated for each home game, as well as off-site promotions.
* For every home game each girl will receive $40.00
* For off-site promotions each girl will receive $20.00 for the 1st hour and $10.00/hr. after the 1st hour.
The RoughRiders are beginning their search by looking for the Rider Girls Dance Team Captain, The captain will be chosen first, then will assist in judging the auditions for the remaining 8-10 team members. Auditions will be held later this month - date and location to be announced.
