Hall Designated For Assignment

November 4, 2009 - Western Hockey League (WHL) Brandon Wheat Kings

Brandon, MB. -- The Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings have designated 18-year old center Jesse Hall for assignment.

The Winnipeg product, who is in his second WHL season had played in seventeen games this season and had three assists and six minutes in penalties.

Since joining the Wheat Kings last fall, the former Winnipeg AAA Midget Thrasher had scored one goal and six points in 46 games.

It's expected that a decision will be made soon on where Hall will play for the balance of the 2009-10 campaign. Brandon has the choice to trade him to another Western League team or assign him to the Manitoba or Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

In other Wheat King news, 19-year old defenceman Alexander Urbom is in Montreal this week as he skates with the Swedish Junior National Team for a week-long training session in preparation for this winter's World Junior Championship in Saskatoon.

A third round draft choice of the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils, Urbom is off to a terrific start in this, his first ever season in the WHL. In fifteen games, the 6'4" 216 lb. blueliner has three goals, 8 points, 26 minutes in penalties while registering an impressive +8 plus / minus ranking.

Sweden boasts seven of the 30 first round draft picks in the 2009 NHL Enty draft and six of those are attending this week's camp at Concordia University's Ed Meagher Arena.

Urbom is expected to return in time for this weekend's games against Prince Albert and Medicine Hat on Friday and Saturday nights respectively. The Wheat Kings enter the weekend with a record of 10-7-0-2 and are coming off a 7-game and thirteen day western road swing that saw them go 4-2-0-1.

Tickets for both weekend games are on sale at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca.
