The Green Bay Gamblers split their two-game western road trip this past weekend. On Friday night, the Gamblers held Sioux City to a USHL record low 11-shots in a 3-0 win over the Musketeers at the Tyson Event Center in Sioux City, Iowa. The following evening the Gamblers fell to the Des Moines Buccaneers 5-2 in Urbandale, Iowa.With the weekend split the Gamblers sit at 5-3-2 on the young season, which places them in 3rd place in the USHL Eastern Division.
Gamblers goaltender Steve Summerhays recorded his second straight shutout to backstop Green Bay to a 3-0 win over Sioux City. Team defense was the key to victory as the Gamblers held the Musketeers to USHL record low 11 shots on goal. Brett Chartier, who was making his Gamblers debut, started the scoring when he found the back of the net at the 19:21 mark of the middle period. The Gamblers added two more in the third period on Matt Stewart (6:32) and Ryan Furne (15:08) goals.
On Saturday night, Des Moines forward Yasin Cisse tallied a hat trick to lead the Buccaneers to a 5-2 win at the Metro Ice Sports Arena in Urbandale, Iowa. Trailing 1-0, Gamblers forward Anders Lee tallied a power play goal at the 18:13 mark of the opening period to tie the score. Des Moines responded 33 seconds later and would never relinquish the lead. Green Bay defenseman David Makowski notched a short-handed goal late in the game (15:05) to make it 4-2. Goaltender Ryan McKay got the start in net, but was pulled in the second period after allowing three goals on 22 shots. Des Moines goaltender Charles Williams earned his first career USHL win steering aside 25 shots.

RECORD SETTERS
The Green Bay Gamblers set a USHL record on Friday night, when they limited the Sioux City Musketeers to just 11 shots on goal. The previous record for fewest shots on goal was set back in 1997 when the Lincoln Stars limited Sioux City to just 12 shots.
MR. ZERO
Heading into Saturday night's game Green Bay goaltender Steve Summerhays has not allowed a goal in his last 180:25 of work. After allowing two goals in the opening 4:25 in a game versus Sioux Falls, Summerhays has been unbeatable. The Anchorage, Alaska native would stop 18 of 18 shots over the next 60:25 to lead the Gamblers to a 3-2 shootout win over Sioux Falls He followed that up with back to back shutouts over Indiana (24 saves) and Sioux City (11 shots) in his next two starts. In his last three stars Summerhays is 3-0-0 to accompany a 0.66 goals against average and a .964 save percentage.
WHAT A DEBUT!
Forward Brett Chartier made quite a debut on Friday night, scoring the game winning goal in the Gamblers
3-0 win over Sioux City. Chartier was acquired by the Gamblers this past week from the Lincoln Stars. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native appeared in 50 games last year for Lincoln, registering 32 points.
GAMBLERS NAME TEAM CAPTAINS
The Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) have announced that second-year forward Patrick McCadden has been named team captain.
McCadden, 20, appeared in 48 games last year for the Anderson Cup champion Gamblers, registering four goals and 14 assists. Prior to his time in Green Bay, McCadden played for Jon Cooper on the 2008 Robertson Cup championship team in St. Louis.
The Gamblers also named second-year players Ryan Furne and David Makowski assistant captains.
Furne, 19, had a tremendous rookie season in the 2008-09, notching 22 goals and 24 assists in 59 games. The Oakdale, Minnesota native tacked on another eight points in seven Clark Cup playoff games.
Makowski, 20, made quite a mark on the USHL during his rookie campaign. The University of Denver recruit, won a gold medal with the United States at the 2008 World Junior "A" Challenge in Alberta, Canada, was named to the USHL All Star game, and garnered 2nd Team All-USHL honors after registering 29 points and a +23 plus/minus rating.

CAPS FOR CANCER RESULTS
On Saturday night (10/24) the Green Bay Gamblers collected a record 2,953 hats in their annual Caps for Cancer game at the Resch Center. The 4,418 in attendance threw their hats on the ice when rookie defenseman Max Hartner scored late in the 2nd period.
All hats collected were donated to Heavenly Hats, which is a charity that gives hats to people with cancer. The Gamblers and their fans also raised nearly $6,000.00 for Heavenly Hats and the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic at Aurora Baycare. Funds were raised through ticket sales, hat auction and the team's game worn pink jersey auction.
Now in its 5th year the Caps for Cancer Toss has collected more than 12,200 hats for Heavenly Hats.
CELEBRITY WAITER DINNER
The Green Bay Gamblers organization and local celebrities will be teaming up to raise money for the Center for Childhood Safety at Marco's Seafood Club on Tuesday, November 10 and again on Tuesday, November 17.
On November 10, the Wild Aces, "Ace" the team mascot and local celebrities will be waiting tables at Marco's from 5:00 - 9:00 PM. One lucky patron will win two tickets (2nd row End Zone) to the Green Bay Packers versus the Baltimore Ravens game at Lambeau Field on December 7.
The following Tuesday (11/17) it's the players turn, as members of the 2009-10 Gamblers team will be the waiters at Marco's from 6:00 - 9:00 PM
All tips collected from the two events will be donated to the Center for Childhood Safety.
Marco's Seafood Club is located at 1330 Marine in Green Bay. Along with their outstanding menu, Marco's will also offer a discounted menu.

Matt Bailey - Sioux Falls Stampede
Bailey registered five points (2g, 3a) and a plus-three rating as the Stampede earned consecutive victories. He dished out two assists in Friday's 4-0 shutout of Lincoln. The following evening he scored two goals on two shots and collected one assist for a three-point effort in the 7-3 win vs. Sioux City.
Defensive Player of the Week -
Nick Bailen - Indiana Ice
Bailen recorded three points (1g, 2a) and plus-three rating during Indiana's two-game sweep of Waterloo. He assisted on the game-winning goal in Friday's 2-1 victory, and then scored his first goal of the season while also collecting an assist during Saturday's 7-0 win.
Goaltender of the Week -
Matt Hemingway - Cedar Rapids RoughRiders
Hemingway made just his second USHL start on Friday, but stopped all 30 shots in the 2-0 victory over the Chicago Steel. The 18-year-old from Alexandria, Minnesota earned the key road win over the League's top offensive club, which had averaged 4.88 goals per game coming into the contest. Hemingway has won both his starts during his first USHL season and currently has a 1.92 GAA and a .943 SV%.

U.S. JUNIOR SELECTS FALL IN SHOOTOUT
Mike Parks (O'Fallon, Mo./Cedar Rapids RoughRiders) collected a goal and two assists, but the U.S. Junior Select Team fell to Canada East, 5-4, in a shootout here tonight at the World Junior A Challenge at Credit Union Place in Summerside, P.E.I.
After a holding penalty left the U.S. shorthanded, David Pratt gave Canada East a 1-0 lead with a power-play marker at 6:53 of the opening frame.
Team USA, which was held scoreless in the first stanza, potted four second-period goals en route to a 4-1 advantage. Parks' pass sent Shane Berschbach (Clawson, Mich./Indiana Ice) on a breakaway, who sent a shot over Canadian East goaltender Matt Ginn's shoulder for a shorthanded tally at 7:36. The U.S. took the lead at 10:11 after a cycle play in the left corner between Parks, Beau Bennett (Gardena, Calif.) and Colten St. Clair (Gilbert, Ariz./Fargo Force). Bennett sent a pass to Parks, who skated toward the front of the net and fired a shot over Ginn's glove. The U.S. extended its lead 13 seconds later with John Parker's (Green Brook, N.J./Indiana Ice) rebound goal off of a Nick Sorkin (Rockville, Md./Waterloo Black Hawks) shot. Beau Bennett, who was named Team USA's player of the game, gave the U.S. a 4-1 advantage after firing his own rebound past Ginn at 16:01. Parks collected his second assist of the game on the play.
Canada East responded with three unanswered goals in the third period to tie the game, 4-4. Nick Huard struck first with a tally at 2:51 to close the gap, 4-2. Canada East scored twice in the final 4:01 of the stanza, with a goal from Campbell and a power-play marker from Jacob Laliberte at 18:43 to send the game into overtime.
In the overtime period, U.S. netminder Will Yanakeff (Jerome, Mich./Sioux City Musketeers), who made 20 saves during the game, kept the contest tied after stopping a Canada East penalty shot with 1:04 remaining.
After a scoreless overtime period, the first two skaters from each team registered successful attempts in the shootout, including Team USA's Berschbach and Beau Bennett. After Brock Higgs scored for Canada East, Matt Leitner's (Los Alamitos, Calif./Fargo Force) attempt was stopped by Ginn as Canada East garnered the 5-4 victory.
Team USA faces off against Belarus in its next game Tuesday (Nov. 3) at 6 p.m. EST.
