The Owen Sound Attack is pleased to announce that Russian Import player Roman Berdnikov (Bird-ni-kov) is expected to make his Owen Sound Attack debut tomorrow night, Wednesday, November 4th vs. the Barrie Colts.Berdnikov, who has been recovering from an upper body injury since his arrival to Owen Sound has spent the last three weeks practicing with the team in anticipation of his debut. There was speculation that Berdnikov was going to make his debut during the annual Erie road trip, however; Attack management chose to weigh on the side of caution. "Waiting another two weeks was something we were willing to do in this case." Stated Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. "This whole experience is still relatively new to Roman and there was no need to rush him. He will be a welcome addition to our line-up."
The 5'11, 180lb winger scored 2 goals and added 2 assists at the 2008 World U-17 Hockey Challenge for the Russian team. Berdnikov, born on May 18th, 1992 according to the Canadian Hockey League website and is eligible for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
