Cobb, Floyd And Stala Named CFL Players Of The Week

November 3, 2009 - Canadian Football League (CFL) Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Hamilton, Ontario - Three Hamilton Tiger-Cats players have captured CFL Player of the Week awards in recognition of their efforts in the Ticats 24-6 win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Saturday, as running back DeAndra' Cobb has been named the Offensive Player of the Week, linebacker Otis Floyd has been named Defensive Player of the Week and receiver Dave Stala has been named the Canadian Player of the Week.

Cobb carried the ball 25 times for 159 rushing yards and a touchdown, becoming the first Hamilton running back to surpass the 1,000-yard mark since 2004. Cobb has tallied 1,140 rushing yards, caught 58 passes for 528 yards and scored eight touchdowns in 2009. This is the third time Cobb has been named Offensive Player of the Week.

Floyd recorded four defensive tackles and was responsible for two of the Ticats six quarterback sacks against the Riders. This season, Floyd has registered 61 defensive tackles, five quarterback sacks, two tackles for a loss and one interception.

Stala made nine catches for a career-high 126 yards in Sunday's victory. In his first season in Black and Gold, Stala is the Ticats second leading receiver after hauling in 62 passes for 708 yards in 17 games.
