YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (November 3, 2009) - Join the Youngstown Phantoms this Veterans Day as they give a heartfelt salute to servicemen and servicewomen past and present. Support our nation's dedicated troops by coming to the Covelli Centre Wednesday, November 11 as the Phantoms host the Green Bay Gamblers at 7:15 p.m. $3 from each ticket sold will be contributed to the USO (United Service Organizations) of Northern Ohio. The USO is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to support the troops by providing morale, welfare and recreation-type services to our men and women in uniform. For more information on how the USO extends a touch of home to the military, log onto www.uso.org.In addition to the donation of ticket proceeds, the Phantoms will be partnering with The Vindicator in its annual Operation Holiday Cheer program. Under that popular effort, area residents submit the names and addresses of military servicemen and servicewomen with area ties. Those names are then published in The Vindicator so local folks can mail holiday greetings and care packages to those American soldiers. Here's how the Phantoms are putting their own twist on Operation Holiday Cheer. The team will provide greeting cards to anyone willing to send words of support, encouragement and thanks to soldiers overseas. Essentially, you bring the patriotic sentiment and the Phantoms will do the rest! Fans can also submit names and contact information for soldiers they know and the Phantoms will pass those along to The Vindicator for publishing. The Youngstown Phantoms are a Member Club of the United States Hockey League (USHL), America's only Tier I hockey league and premier developer of National Hockey League talent with more than 100 alumni on current NHL rosters.
