Grizzlies Sign Dylan Hunter

West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley announced today that the team has signed forward Dylan Hunter to a contract for the 2009-2010 season.

Hunter, a 2004 draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres, comes to Utah with 183 games of American Hockey League experience; putting up 31 goals and 60 assists for 91 points and 135 penalty minutes with Rochester, Portland and the Houston Aeros. He played in one game with Houston this year.

Playing junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League with the London Knights, Hunter had 369 points (106 goals, 263 assists) in 315 games; including 117 points in 62 games in 2005-2006 and 104 points in 67 games in 2004-2005.

Utah opens the 2009-2010 regular season Friday in Las Vegas with the home opening E-Center weekend being Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24 when they will host Idaho.

Utah enters their fifth year in the ECHL and their third-straight season as an affiliate of the New York Islanders. On September 16, 2009, the Grizzlies announced that they will also be adding up to four prospects this season from the Calgary Flames. Head Coach Kevin Colley returns to the Utah bench this season after signing a multi-year contract extension on April 20, 2009. Colley, who at the age of 30 is the youngest coach in the ECHL, led the Grizzlies to the playoffs for the third time in four years during his rookie head coaching campaign.
