LAKEWOOD, NJ - Tonight might be the last night to
catch Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band on
tour in New Jersey for a few years, but the Lakewood
BlueClaws will once again give fans a night of
Springsteen excitement this July.Bruce Springsteen Appreciation Night will return to the Jersey Shore at the BlueClaws game on July 10th at FirstEnergy Park.
For one night only, the BlueClaws, as they have for the last two summers, will be transformed into the BruceClaws, wearing special jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game.
This year's auction raised over $5,000 for the Danny Federici Memorial Fund, to fund research and raise awareness for melanoma, which took the life of the E- Street Band keyboardist.
In addition, only Springsteen music will be played throughout the ballpark that night, emcee Eric Finkel will dress as Springsteen, and there will be an all- Springsteen set pre-game in the Coors Light WRAT Trap.
"With us being right here at the Jersey Shore, the night is a natural fit," said BlueClaws General Manager Geoff Brown. "We love doing it every year and were happy to raise money for great causes that are important to Bruce."
The Lakewood BruceClaws lost their debut in 2008, 4- 0 to Kannapolis, but this year defeated Lexington 8-2. The BruceClaws will face Delmarva on July 10th trying to get over .500 for the first time in their history.
The 2010 season will mark the BlueClaws tenth season of play, and the team will have a new logo and new uniforms for the first time in team history.
The BlueClaws won their second South Atlantic League title in 2009, and led the league in attendance for the ninth straight year. The team also won the league's Club Merit Award and became the fastest in New Jersey and SAL history to reach 4-million fans.
