Jacksonville, FL - Suns closer Matt Peterson was named to the Southern League Postseason All-Star Team, the Southern League announced Monday.
Peterson has converted 32 out of his 38 possible save opportunities this season, setting the Suns' single-season saves record in the process. He has posted a 4-4 record with a 4.25 ERA and 49 strikeouts in 53 innings this season.
A native of Alexandria, LA, Peterson was a second-round draft pick in 2000 by the New York Mets out of Rapides (La.) High School. He signed with the Florida Marlins as a free agent in the fall of 2008 after seeing time across four levels of the Kansas City Royals organization during the 2008 season.
The Postseason All-Star Team is voted upon by Southern League field managers, radio broadcasters and print media. The full All-Star Team roster is as follows:

The Suns finish their final homestand of the regular season on Tuesday, September 1, before heading on the road to play their final five games of the year against the Huntsville Stars. The Suns will then take on the Birmingham Barons in the first round of the Southern League Playoffs starting Thursday, September 10, and will host game three of the series at the Baseball Grounds on Saturday, September 12 at 7:05PM.
