Altoona Curve News Release

BOWIE, MD - An eighth inning 6-6 tie was broken when Eddie Prasch crossed the plate on a Gorkys Hernandez bunt attempt to give the Curve a 7-6 win over the Bowie Baysox (AA-Baltimore Orioles) in their season series finale at Prince George's Stadium Monday night.

The Curve never trailed Monday as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead after plating one run in the first on a sacrifice fly and then three more in the fifth inning all coming on bases loaded walks.

Bowie would make a game of it with three runs in the bottom half of the fifth highlighted by Eric Crozier going deep off of Curve lefty Kyle Bloom.

Altoona would extend their lead to 6-3 scoring on a balk and then on an RBI single by Jason Delaney.

Bowie would tie the game at six with three unanswered runs in the sixth and seventh with Joshua Bell hitting a two run shot in the seventh to even the game.

Prasch then scored the eventual winning run after a throwing error on the bunt attempt by Hernandez. Gorkys would finish the night 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored while Delaney drove home three runs to extend his team lead in RBIs with 57 in a 1-for-3 night.

Mike Dubee (2-0) picked up his second win of the season while Ramon Aguero picked up his third save in as many tries after throwing 2.0 no-hit innings. Pirates rehab starter Donnie Veal looked impressive in his second rehab start with the Curve. Veal threw 2.0 no-hit innings striking out two while walking one.

The win concludes Altoona's seven-game road trip and maximizes savings for fans in the second edition of the Curve's Road to Savings promotion. With the Curve finishing 5-2 over the week long expedition to Harrisburg and Bowie fans will receive $5 off, one for each win, on Grandstand and Terrace level tickets for their game on Wednesday, August 26 against the Trenton Thunder (AA-New York Yankees). Terrace level seats are now just $3 and Grandstand seating is now an incredible $1 for the middle game of the three game set with Trenton.

The Curve (55-73) begin their three game series with Trenton on Tuesday night at Blair County Ballpark. Starting time for Tuesday's contest will be 6:35 p.m. with radio coverage kicking off at 6:05 p.m. with the Marzoni's In the Zone Pre-Game show on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Altoona Curve Radio Network.

Probable starters for the series opener will be highly touted prospect RHP Tim Alderson (8-1, 3.57) for Altoona and RHP Ryan Pope (5-10, 4.76) for the Thunder.

It will be a very special night at BCB Tuesday for Sheetz Family Charities "For the Kidz" Night. The Curve and longtime partner Sheetz will be teaming to help raise money for underprivileged children. Tuesday's contest will feature a silent jersey off the back auction for the brand new "Kidz" themed uniforms the Curve will be sporting for the special occasion as well as in-game contests for the youngsters. The night will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display that's sure to wow the crowd.
