EDMONTON, AB - Now the gloves will come off. The Golden Baseball League's North Division title will be decided by a good old-fashioned Battle of Alberta. The Edmonton Capitals are officially in the playoffs. The Caps have built up enough of a cushion on the third place Chico Outlaws to secure the second half playoff spot in the North Division. The Capitals will host the Calgary Vipers for the first two games of the best-of-five series on September 1st and 2nd , both 7 o'clock starts at TELUS Field. Game 3 of the series will be in Calgary on Friday September 5th. Games four and five will also be in Calgary, if necessary.
Tickets for the Capitals first ever playoff series go on sale Wednesday August 26, 2009 at 10 a.m. Those will be available at any Ticketmaster location, at the Capitals Game Day Box Office during regular business hours Monday through Friday, by calling (780) 414-GOAL or by visiting capsbaseball.ca. Fans with any unused tickets from any Capitals home games this year are encouraged to redeem them for tickets to any remaining home game this season.
The Capitals will finish off their regular season against the Calgary Vipers. They are on the road this week for three games and return home for three games this weekend. It's an exciting weekend at TELUS Field as team finishes off the inaugural season in style. Take a late lunch or leave work early as Friday's game is a 2 p.m. start for Ron Kittle Day as the Capitals pay tribute to the Edmonton Trapper great. Anyone wearing a Ron Kittle jersey will get in for free and anyone wearing Trappers gear will receive a free hot dog! Canadian Tire Fan Appreciation Day on Saturday (7 p.m. start) features post game fireworks, the Saturday Night Movie 'Angels In The Outfield' and loads of great prizes from Capitals sponsors. Signature Sunday is also Military Appreciation Day. (2 p.m. start)
