Vancouver Canadians News Release

(Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, BC) - A two-run triple from Canadians C Gabriel Ortiz scored both DH Kent Walton and SS Wilfredo Sosa to help Vancouver to a 6-5 victory over the Yakima Bears on Thursday night.

Vancouver took a 6-3 lead into the top of the 9th inning, but watched as the Bears scored two runs off of Canadians RHP Rob Gilliam before Manager Rick Magnante went to the bullpen once more grabbing RHP Conner Hoehn (hane) who came into the game to get 2B Gerson Montilla to strike out securing the victory.

The Canadians DH Kent Walton went 5-for-5 in Thursday night's victory with a double and four singles to pace the offense. Walton now trails Everett's Mario Martinez by just one hit for the Northwest League lead through August 6th.

Note: Canadians CF Tyreace House got the worst of a collision in the third inning with RF Conner Crumbliss on a ball hit to the right-center gap. Crumbliss remained in the game, House did not. House was taken to a local hospital with a leg injury and will be re-evaluated in the morning.
