Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release
SPRINGDALE, AR - Naturals outfielder Jordan Parraz has completed his rehab assignment with Idaho Falls and has been activated to the roster of the Omaha Royals, the Kansas City Royals' Triple-A affiliate in the Pacific Coast League, the Royals announced Tuesday.
Parraz, the 24-year old Henderson, NV resident, got six hits in 17 at-bats over four games for the Chukars, the Royals' Advanced-Rookie affiliate in the Pioneer League. He also had a homer and five runs driven in. This will be his first experience at the Triple-A level.
Parraz had been sidelined with a hamstring injury since late June. Prior to his injury, he batted .358 with seven homers and 42 RBI in 64 games. A scalding month that saw Parraz bat .407 and hit safely in 20 of the 21 games he played in during the month led to him winning the Topps' Texas League Player of the Month award for June. He topped the loop in slugging percentage for the month at .704, and tied for the most extra-base hits in June with 13. Parraz also led Texas League hitters in June with a 1.176 OPS, and as of this week remained as the league leader in on-base percentage with a .451 mark.
Acquired by the Kansas City Royals from the Houston Astros in December in a trade for left-hander Tyler Lumsden, Parraz was also named to the Texas League All-Star squad, although he did not play due to injury.
The Naturals' roster remains at the Texas League limit of 24 active players.
