Two new faces and two familiar faces helped power the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs past the York Revolution 7-1 in a rain-soaked first game of a four game series at Regency Furniture Stadium. With the win, Southern Maryland increased its dominance over York, improving to 12-2 on the year and 7-1 at home. In their 14 meetings, the Blue Crabs have outscored the Revolution 96-25, and in the past four games, the Blue Crabs hold a 35-4 run advantage over the Revolution. In his Blue Crab debut, former Washington National and Maryland-native Mike O'Connor tossed five shut-out innings, striking out four while walking none. He kept the Revolution off-balance by locating his fastball effectively while sprinkling in a big-breaking curveball. Four Blue Crabs' relievers combined to only allow one-unearned run in four innings of work. Ken Harvey, who was an All-Star with the Kansas City Royals and is Southern Maryland's other newcomer, crushed two balls to deep center, the first of which resulted in a sacrifice fly and the second in a RBI double. Harvey is now batting .375 with two RBI as a Blue Crab. Blue Crabs' Captain Jeremy Owens and fan-favorite Patrick Osborn also each hit towering home runs to help Southern Maryland's cause. Owens hit his Atlantic League-leading 17th home run in the bottom of the fourth inning and third baseman Osborn hit his in the bottom of the eighth. Both were two-run dingers. York starter Brian Holliday allowed four earned runs in five innings as he fell to 1-2 on the season. By not recording a hit Monday night, right fielder John Ramistella snapped his eight-game hitting streak. Ramistella has hit safely in 26 of Southern Maryland's past 28 games. Note: O'Connor was teammates at Mount Saint Joseph High School in Baltimore with current New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira and was three years behind current Chicago White Sox pitcher Gavin Floyd.
