Legends win in 11, 5-2
July 20, 2009 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Lexington Legends News Release
Michael Diaz' two-run pinch single in the 11th inning broke a 2-2 tie, and the Lexington Legends went on to beat the Lakewood BlueClaws 5-2 in Lakewood Monday night.
Diaz, batting for Freddie Hernandez with the bases loaded and one out in the 11th grounded a single through the right side of the infield, scoring Brian Pellegrini from third and Eric Suttle from second. Pellegrini had started the inning with a single, Suttle followed with a bunt single, and after Andy Simunic sacrificed the runners to second and third, Steve Brown was intentionally walked, setting the stage for Diaz.
Patrick Urckfitz (4-0), who entered the game in the bottom of the 10th, picked up the win. Lakewood reliever Eryk McConnell (0-1) was the loser.
The Legends return home to meet the Lake County Captains Wednesday night at Applebee's Park. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
